Day 6 … ‘I Am a jealous God’

Today’s Activity: Consider God’s challenge prayerfully. Then give Him an answer

Today’s Focus: Healing. Ask God for healing for all we’ve prayed for this week – healing that begins in the spirit and then pours forth in the body.

‘I Am a jealous God. I will no longer accept lukewarm faith. I want full commitment. No longer will I allow My people to claim to love Me with no action that puts that love on display. During this week I have called you to new relationship and deeper faith. You must know that there is a place in this journey where no one but you will understand your faith. And when that place comes, I want you to keep believing. I want you to continue to trust Me.

Your fast has availed much and I Am well pleased with your sacrifice. As the year begins I want four things from you:

(1) Be willing to stand alone, for My sake. Seek to please Me alone. Not your parents, spouses, children, friends, or pastors. Only Me.

(2) Make Me first. Worship Me alone. I want to be the only God in your life.

(3) Love all as I have loved you. I view My people with complete sight. I want you to do the same. See what I see; see through My eyes, rather than the cloudy lens of your own humanity.

(4) Be willing to give it all away. I want everything. I want it ALL. Do not be like the young rich ruler who could not part with his possessions or his people. I want you to be willing to give it all away to follow Me.

I love you. I have heard the cries of  your hearts and I will not tarry. Stand firm and you will see My glory in your life and the lives of those you love like a mighty flood. This  year I will part the seas, I will free the captives, I will give a fresh anointing. No matter what comes, trust Me. Listen and obey. Do not be anxious or afraid, for I have not given you a spirit of fear, but of power of love and of sound mind. Continue to seek Me earnestly and watch Me establish the work of your hands.’

This week has been amazing all. God has done marvelous things. Please be sure to share the testimonies with me (rclee@swbell.net) and all the rest of BMV. I love you and I am humbled at the opportunity to serve you and worship along side in such a holy way this week. I’ll be praying for you throughout the year. BIG HUGS!

P.S. – You can officially break at 6 and enjoy dinner with your families!

Day 5 … Let Yourself Love Him

Today’s Activity: Write a love letter to God.

Today’s Focus: Let your heart speak. Spend your time in personal reflection and prayer.

Are you a friend of God?

Is He a friend of yours?

I know this is supposed to be about a love letter. And it is. No worries. But let’s not put the cart before the horse.

Before you can successfully enjoy the intimacy of being in love, you first have to learn to trust one another as friends.

One of the greatest lessons of 2010 for me was the value of friendship and the power that it has to help sustain love. Only a few know the real deal of this past year for me, but those who do have heard me say in very recent history that one of the greatest blessings to come of all that went terribly awry between me and Sweetheart is that through all the rubble, God uncovered a friendship we’ve never known. Being broken forced us to connect in a way that we had not managed in our entire history and today I can say that he is my bff and that I am falling in love w/him in a way that I doubted I’d ever know.

It’s the same with God. I couldn’t properly fall in love with Him until I was broken enough to go to Him with the truth of my heart lain bare and open for His full perusal and address. It was totally not easy. But it was the beginning of the most vibrant, most vital friendship I’ve ever known. As I learned to trust Him with my truth, He was able to woo me and lead me into deep intimacy and fellowship with Him.

He wants to do the same for you.

Friends being bff’s with God is something phenomenal, but if you think that’s amazing then you’ve just GOT to experience Him as the Lover of your soul.

Let your love letter be truth – not pretention. Give Him all that  you are and let Him take you deeper. Trust Him. Because He won’t abandon you, no matter how bad it gets or how much is aches. He will not let you go.

Today is the first day of the greatest love affair of your life. Make it a great one.

Day 4… Worship… That’s it & That’s All

Worship. One on one time with God to hear and to seek Him simply for who He is.

Focus is ministry. What is it? How does God see it. How does He want it to look in our lives?

This day is between you and God. Worship Him. Don’t ask for stuff. Ask for Him. That’s what He wants more than anything – to give you more of Himself. Let Him minister to you. Let Him love you and let Him teach you how to love Him in return.

Ask Him to tell you what ‘ministry’ is from His own heart and then ask Him to help you to apply it to your own life. You should walk away from today willing to give away what’s been given to you…

Love ya’ll. Ro

Day 3… It’s All About Faith

Today’s Activity: Hall of Faith. Three earmarks for yourself, your spouse, and the two of you as a couple. For one year, two years, and three years.

Today’s Focus:  the unsaved – all unsaved. Which would include spouses and kids, but is really a specific prayer for all unbelievers to have an opportunity to know God for themselves…

Faith isn’t about how you feel. It’s about what you do.

Today is about taking the risk to live faith out loud. It’s about learning to expect God.

There are a couple of things you need to know:

 (1)   The things God wants you to believe Him for will not come without work.

(2)   They will be worth every bit of the battle to receive them.

For the Christ-follower, the risk is not in whether or not you will be given the victory. That has already been decided. The risk is in whether or not you will endure the process necessary to lay claim to that which has already been reserved specifically for you…

Take the challenge today and really seek God for the impossible. I’m telling you, He will blow your mind.

Share with us in the comments. One thing for you and one for your spouse that God is asking you to believe Him for.

And be encouraged. God is doing much in this week, even now…

Day 2… Just One Word, Lord…

Today’s Activity: Ask for a word for the year for yourself and one for your spouse. Write it down and keep it close to your heart.

Today’s Focus: People in our spheres of influence. Pray for whatever concerns them. For their needs spiritually first, then naturally.

“I am not a sieve. I am Lord of ALL, good and bad alike. I want My people to understand that I am MASTER, not just a god who sits high and filters out the ‘bad’ things, only allowing blessings to filter through into the lives of My people. I want My people to want ME, not My hand. I want them to understand that I use ALL THINGS to work and will for My good pleasure in their lives. I know their physical needs, their natural desires, but I will not give them those things at the cost of their spiritual health. I will not allow My people to die, for the sake of being popular among the pagans. I want instead that My people should live and thrive from the inside out – in plain view of the unbelievers.  I am a Giver of good things, but that means more than just possessions. Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Seek ye first MY kingdom and MY righteousness and all else will be added unto you.”

I think that says it all.

Day 1 Fast

Let me just say, gang, that I am SO honored to do this with you every year. It’s such a privilege to live out the faith I hold so dear with other Believers! I’ve missed you!

Today’s Activity: Seek God for a verse for yourself and one for your mate for 2011.  Write it and turn it into a prayer. Hold them close to your hearts.

Today’s Focus: Personal submission for ourselves and prayer specifically for our households and extended families.

Three words for my 2010. LONG. PAINFUL. OVERWHELMING.

Three words for my God in 2010: ADONAI. NISSI. SHAMMAH.

He has been my Master, my Banner, and my Present Help.

And girls, He wants to be that for you too.  But it can only be that way if a) you submit and b) you embrace His Sovereignty. Seriously. It’s the only way. Take His hand and make a commitment to submit yourself to His work no matter how it feels or how it looks.  Press into Him and really make some choices today. God doesn’t want part-time service. Almost doesn’t count. Decide today whether you are in or out.

If you’re not coming into 2011 to play to win, you may as well pack your bags and head on back to the house.  For real. If you don’t intend to walk away with victory, if this is just a nice way to start the year off on a good note, then stop now.

See, here’s the deal. I have some inside information on this thing: ‘The evil one did not come to play only to lose. He came to win. But he will not have victory in your life if you will take My hand and follow Me. If you will do as I say, if you will trust Me – even in your pain – you will be victorious. I. ALWAYS. PREVAIL.’

Ladies, victory only comes by submission and obedience – over and over and over again, and no matter the circumstances. Satan may not intend to lose. But God DOESN’T lose. So you see, it’s all a matter of what team you play for. And just to be clear, a choice to live on your terms, absent God’s direction, is a choice for the losing team – because God is going to have His way, whether or not you are a willing participant.

He spoke to me on Wednesday morning and He said to me: ‘Your best intentions are not greater than My sovereignty.’

Take that to heart.

His word says in Romans 9:15-16: ‘For He says to Moses, “I WILL HAVE MERCY ON WHOM I HAVE MERCY, AND I WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON WHOM I HAVE COMPASSION.” So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy.’

Submit ladies. And respect that He is in control of the good AND the bad.

I want you to know that Lynn, Dineen, and I have been praying specifically for each of you for many weeks now. God has given us come clear burdens and convictions about this fast and I feel compelled to share some of that with you. This fast will not be one where hands are held and we spoon-feed truth. This is all about discovery for each of us. God wants us to ‘learn to relish the taste of (spiritual) meat’. Expect Him, but on His own terms. Embrace the beauty of the unexpected work and way of Jehovah. Know that what seems good is not always good and that what FEELS right is not always best. This year is a year of transformation and re-organization in many, many lives. Let your life be one of them.  We love you and we are praying for you and seeking with you.

How the Recession has Strengthened my Marriage

Financial matters are very sensitive issues in a marriage at the best of times but in this economic hardship most people are currently undergoing, it becomes harder to discuss. All the more reason to discuss it, I believe. When it has to do with anything marriage related, I don’t think I qualify to write about it. Talk about a rookie! We are just over a year as it is :)

Of the different topics available, I decided to go with the one above. Boy, the stories I could tell! Living in a foreign country, without any real income until recently (but that’s a story for another day 😉 ), we have learnt some really invaluable lessons which I would love to share.

  • How to Trust God Better: That was the primary lesson we learnt; trusting God for every little thing, from paying the bills to whatever you can imagine. It was not like there was no money or source of money, it’s just that if you have ever tried to run a household during a recession, you know that somehow, the money does not seem to cover every need. We have had times as a family(countless) when we had to get down on our knees and literally hold God to His promises and one thing came out clear from all that: God NEVER breaks His word!
  • Learning to Depend on Each Other: Growing up, there was this framed thingy on the wall of the living room in my parent’s home that said A friend is one who comes in when the whole world has gone out. If that definition is correct, then I would say that my husband is the GREATEST friend I have. Living so far from home in a country where even students are not allowed to work has taught us to depend on each other as we depend on God.
  • Managing Resources: Ha. This is so funny. I grew up on a mission base so managing resources should come naturally to me. And to some extent it does, just in different circumstances. Anyway, Hubby and I put into practice, the lessons our parents drilled into us with fantastic results. Example: Instead of using baby wipes each time we had to change the baby, we kept those for when we had to go out. At home, we mixed water with a bit of disinfectant and put in a spritz bottle…it works wonders. It doesn’t just save money, but it also cleared the nappy rash we were fighting. Imagine… 🙂

If those 3 are the only lessons we take out of living in a recession, I want to believe that they are enough to carry us through a lifetime – and not just in money related issues but in almost every aspect of life – even relationships. I don’t think anyone would pray for economic hardship, but it does come. Learning from it is the most important thing.

This post originally appeared on my blog Sharon’s Reservoir, where I try to blog each day. It was part of a blog meme ‘Marriage Monday’ and I just felt I had to share it here. It does not matter what circumstance you face, what really matters are the lessons you take away from what you go through in life.

November Newsletter – Staying in the Love

Its the 1st of November and we have roughly 60 days to go before the year 2010 comes to an end. To me it seems like January was just a couple of blinks ago, but here we are…

Do you remember the place you were at in your life in January? Are you still in the same place or even the same person? Very likely not. But the one thing that has and will continue to remain constant is the Lord and His Love.

For most of us this year has been quite a tough one for different reasons, but one thing that has resonated through and through is that even in the midst of the difficult-est situations, God has been there [usually realized in hindsight, but very true anyway].

So for this Newsletter I’d like to “talk” a bit about staying in the place of God’s love even in the midst of all the goings on (i.e. life).

At church on sunday, the Lord really spoke to me about this and it wasn’t even in the Sermon, but in the opening prayer! It was surreal – as the lady was saying the opening prayer complete with Bible readings, I knew it was my message for the day. I might as well have gone home after that really – but it was a great service and I’ll share.

The major verse was Ecclesiastes 12:13

All has been heard; the end of the matter is: Fear God and keep is commandments for this is the whole of man and the whole for every man

My favourite Amplified Translation  puts it this way:

All has been heard; the end of the matter is: Fear God [rever and worship Him knowing that He is] and keep His commandments for this is the whole of man [the full original purpose of His creation, the object of God’s providence, the root of character, the foundation of all happiness, the adjustment to all inharmonious circumstances and conditions under the sun] and the whole [duty] for every man.

I just love this cos beneath all the wording what the verse is saying is that the whole purpose of every man is to Fear God and Keep His commandments. Period.

So instead of trying to keep up with religion and doctrines and various dos and donts, we only need to remember these 2:

Fear God;

Keep His commandments.

In doing this, we will ensure that the Love of God which He showed through the death of Christ on the cross is available to us; that we are hidden in the palms of God’s Hands; that we are enclosed in His hedge of security; and we are indeed His children… in the family so to speak.

What this involves is accepting to be a member of the family and acquiescing to live by the rules. Its kind ofthe opposite of what the prodigal son did when he upped and ran away with his new-found riches. But the welcome he received upon his return is a small example of the Love with which the Heavenly Father welcomes us home. OR even just wrapping His arms around us when we’re having a hard time.

Its interestingly simple that all we have to do in ANY and ALL situations is to remember to Fear God and Keep His commandments – and He will come through.

So can I challenge you all to put this to work in your own lives? – whatever that situation may be – choose to remain in God’s family, holy and pure in your thoughts, words, and actions and let’s see what the Lord will do… in our lives, our walk with God, our relationships, our marriages, our husbands, our children, our work, our fears, our strugges, our successes, our failures, and everything.

Lord, we believe that You Are, we worship you, we revere you; we choose to believe and obey your commandments because we know that when we do this, we position ourselves as your favourites in the centre of your love family. We commit out situations to you Lord, and as we fear and obey you, we expect you to show yourself mighty in our lives.

Father, I pray for that sister who’s at a crossroad in her life and needs to make a decision. Lord strengthen her and help her to choose you. Let her know that in doing the right thing, the godly thing, she opens herself up to Your Love and the experience of you.

Lord show yourself mighty in our lives…. its a challenge…. and it’s on.

Please share the testimonies and experiences. I get the feeling its going to be quite interesting.

Have a great month ladies… God bless you
